Frustrated by the limitation of spreadsheets and the complexity and high price of existing budgeting products, CPA and corporate controller Chris Lorch envisioned the ideal budgeting solution. This vision included three major elements: ease of use, complete functionality, and an affordable price. Chris partnered with Mike Brouillette and Don McCallister to make his vision a reality. With over 80 years combined experience in finance, operations and systems, the three founders of Acteon Technologies understand well the pain of using homegrown systems to manage the budgeting process. Driven by the demand for a better way to budget, they developed a robust new budgeting solution called BudgetGuide.

In 2004, Acteon partnered with Targit, a leading provider of analytical processing tools to integrate robust business intelligence capability with the bottoms up budgeting functionality of BudgetGuide, thereby offering a complete corporate performance management (CPM) solution to our customers. This enhanced product offering with the combined technologies from Acteon and Targit is called BudgetGuide GPS.
